After announcing recently that the 2010 HNS Convention was moving towards  meeting the requirements to trigger its entry into force, the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) has confirmed that this milestone has been met and that the International Convention on Liability and Compensation for Damage in Connection with the Carriage of Hazardous and Noxious Substances by Sea will officially enter into force on 29 November 2027.

SOUTH AFRICA: Since the establishment of a formal community fishing forum some three years ago, the fishing communities along the South Coast of South Africa have reported an improved ability to voice their concerns and actively participate in decision-making processes that affect their livelihoods.

SEYCHELLES: Maintenance and dry docking of Seychelles Coast Guard ships are being undertaken close to home at the Mauritian facilities of CNOI (Indian Ocean Shipyard) where yard is able to accommodate a variety of vessels from frigates, tuna seiners, supply vessels, and tugboats to high-end yachts.

Equatorial Guinea has been found to have unlawfully arrested and detained a Marshall Islands-flagged very large crude carrier (VLCC) and its 26-man crew, and must pay compensation exceeding US$ 12 million plus EUR 2 million in a landmark ruling by the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS).
