The 2024 Oceans Economy Conference and Expo is a two-day high level industry event which brings together key phrases in the commercial and defence maritime industries. The conference covers the full spectrum of services and products for the sector including logistics and shipping, offshore oil and gas, fisheries, tourism as well as defence and security at sea. The expo is the ultimate showcase of cutting edge technologies, innovative solutions, and industry advancements in the oceans economy sector. Live demonstrations of vessels, search and rescue and security systems will also form a key highlight of the event.

Taking place 22-23 MAY 2024, the event brings together top-level players in both the general oceans economy and maritime security industries for high-level discussions and engagements on developments in new technologies for the maritime industry, as well as the protection and promotion of South Africa’s maritime assets.

Speaking on the first day of the conference, Odwa Mtati, CEO of SAIMI will unpack some of the biggest trends in the maritime sector and discuss the necessary strategies that need to be implemented to respond to them.  Dr Andre Share - Head of Operation Phakisa & Chief Director: Oceans and Coastal Research, Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment will provide an update on the Ocean Economy Master Plan. With breakaway sessions on port infrastructure, fisheries, marine technology, oil and gas as well as financing and invetment, the first day offers a full programme for delegates from all sectors of the maritime industry. 

Day two will focus more specifically on maritime security and defence challenges as well as opportunities with a keynote address from Rear Admiral Bubele Mhlana - Deputy Chief of Navy as well as a panel discussion on Maritime Domain Awareness.

The 8th Maritime Industry Soccer Tournament will take place in Cape Town on Saturday the 9th of May! This annual event, hosted by AMSOL, sees hundreds of players and supporters from across the maritime industry compete for the title of tournament champion - all for a good cause.
