Navy offers STCW training

Maiden STCW training underway

NIGERIA: The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Quorra this week initiated its maiden Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) training, following its accreditation as a certified maritime training institute late last year.

With a first cohort of 12 participants, this first training will span two weeks, featuring extensive professional training in core areas such as Personal Survival Techniques, Fire Fighting and Prevention, Elementary First Aid & Personal Safety and Social Responsibility.

Other topics include Security Awareness for all Seafarers and Electronic Chart Display and Information System.

In his inaugural address, the Commandant of NNS Quorra, Commodore Benjamin Onalo, encouraged the trainees to take full advantage of the opportunity to earn the globally recognised certificates that the training would provide.
