More patrol vessels on order

NIGERIA: Representing a ninth order with the French shipbuilder, the Nigerian Navy has renewed it’s connection with Ocea with an order for the design and manufacture of a fleet of patrol boats consisting of 14 vessels.

The vessels are being procured to manage the growing challenges in the Gulf of Guinea, both near shore and in the EEZ.

The order includes three 32-metre OCEA FPB 98 MKI fast patrol boats, six 9.8-metre OCEA RIVER 28 OB river patrol boats and five 9.5-metre RHIBs, in addition to the 19 OCEA vessels already in the Nigerian Navy's fleet.

The OCEA FPB 98 MKI is already well known to the Nigerian Navy, which has been operating this vessel for more than 10 years.

The OCEA RIVER 28 OB and the RHIBs enhance the Navy's response capability for coastal and delta operations.

The RHIBs in particular will be used for law enforcement and fast interventions (45 knots).
