NIGERIA: The National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) is embarking on a bid to replace more than 90% of the boats on the country’s waterways in a bid to phase out wooden vessels and improve safety.

In an award ceremony dominated by European yacht builders, South African Southern Wind Shipyard beat YYachts of Germany and Aegean Yacht of Turkey to claim the overall title of Best Sailing Yacht in the 24 to 40 m category.

SOUTH AFRICA: The South African boatbuilding industry has recorded a remarkable 22.3% increase per annum over the past five years and contributed R4.9 billion to the country’s export figures in 2023.
