Construction of deep sea port begins

The Gambia celebrates project launch

THE GAMBIA: The President of the Republic of The Gambia, Adama Barrow, presided over the official foundation stone laying ceremony for the Sanyang Deep Sea Port earlier this month as The Gambia Ports officially launched the beginning of the project.

The Sanyang Deep Sea Port is a major investment in The Gambia’s maritime infrastructure. Once completed, it will feature state-of-the-art deep-water berths, modern cargo handling systems, and expanded storage facilities. This port will significantly boost the country’s capacity for international trade, reduce shipping and transit times, and create employment opportunities.

“This project is a testament to our commitment to continue to excel as a leading maritime center for trade logistics and distribution,”,MD Jobarteh. The Sanyang Deep Sea Port will open avenues for economic growth, attract foreign investment, and transform The Gambia into a major trade hub in the sub-region.

The GPA remains committed to the successful delivery of this flagship project and the sustainable growth of the country’s Maritime industry.
