Excavating drugs in the Port of Durban

R36 million worth of cocaine seized

SOUTH AFRICA: The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), through the Serious Organised Crime Investigation (SOCI) South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB), seized approximately 90 kilograms of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of R36 million at the Port of Durban this weekend.

Holding the polluter responsible

Entry into force set for HNS

After announcing recently that the 2010 HNS Convention was moving towards  meeting the requirements to trigger its entry into force, the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) has confirmed that this milestone has been met and that the International Convention on Liability and Compensation for Damage in Connection with the Carriage of Hazardous and Noxious Substances by Sea will officially enter into force on 29 November 2027.
