New petroleum vessel to join fleet
Acquisition formalises continued diversification
EGYPT: A new petroleum supply and services vessel, which left its Chinese builder’s yard this past weekend is expected to officially join the Suez Canal Authority’s fleet when she arrives in Egypt early next month as the fourth addition to the petroleum services fleet.
Adm Ossama Rabiee, Chairman and Managing Director of the Suez Canal Authority, announced the commencement of the maiden voyage of the integrated petroleum supply and services vessel Fakhr 1 in preparation for joining the Authority's fleet of maritime units, following its completion at Ningde Tai Jinzhou Yuajin Shipyard in China.
The petroleum services vessel Fakhr 1 is owned by a consortium comprising Timsah Shipbuilding Company, Canal Mooring & Lights Co, and Suez Canal Rope Co. It is the fourth vessel in the petroleum services fleet operated by the SCA-affiliated Timsah Shipbuilding Company, whose fleet also includes the service vessels Aman, Ahmed Fadel, and Badr.
The petroleum services vessel Fakhr 1 incorporates the latest global technologies in fuel-efficient maritime operations. The vessel is fully equipped to support diving operations and operates with a DP2 system (Dynamic Positioning), enabling precise station-keeping without the need for anchoring.

Adm Rabiee highlighted the Authority's commitment to diversifying revenue streams for its companies by actively contributing to oil and gas exploration with units that feature the latest global technologies.
He also noted that the vessel had successfully completed both sea trials and quay trials at the Chinese shipyard, in the presence of representatives of Timsah Shipbuilding Company and the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
