New appointment of Principal Secretary

Office of the President announces new appointment

SEYCHELLES: David Bianchi’s appointment as the new Principal Secretary for Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine takes effect today.

Bianchi holds a Master of Science degree in Economics, with a specialisation in Industrialisation, Trade, and Economic Policy, from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, United Kingdom. He brings with him 31 years of experience in the public service.

Having begun his career in July 1994 as an Economist in the then Ministry of Industry, he was promoted to Senior Economist within the Ministry of Industries and International Business in 1998. In July 1999, he was appointed Director of the Industrial Management and Development Division, a position he held until October 2000, when he was promoted to Director General of the same division.

In July 2004, Bianchi joined the Seychelles Investment Bureau as Technical Director, where he contributed to national investment strategies until August 2006. In September 2006, he joined the Seychelles Ports Authority as the Economic and Finance Manager.

In February 2009, he was appointed Director General of the Division of Transport in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Environment, Transport and Energy. In August 2009, he also took on the additional role of Road Transport Commissioner, serving in both capacities concurrently.

In November 2011, Bianchi returned to the Seychelles Ports Authority as Director for Business Development.

Prior to his appointment as Principal Secretary, he served as Director for Strategies, a position he has held since December 2017.
