INTRODUCING THE INTERNATIONAL PANEL FOR OCEAN SUSTAINABILITY

Webinar

The International Panel for Ocean Sustainability (IPOS) consortium, in collaboration with the Western Indian Ocean Early Career Scientists Network (WIO-ECSN), is thrilled to announce a consultation webinar to introduce the “Towards IPOS Initiative” to WIO-ECSN.

DATE: 15 November 2024
TIME: 09:00
VENUE:  Zoom
FORMAT: Webinar
COST: Free

The Towards IPOS initiative aims to enhance the global ocean knowledge-decision interface by fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders. WIO-ECSN, a constituent network of WIOMSA, represents a key organization of young researchers focused on marine and coastal science in the Western Indian Ocean (WIO) region. Collaborating with WIO-ECSN for a dedicated consultation webinar presents a unique opportunity to engage early-career scientists in the co-design of IPOS, leveraging their regional expertise and innovative perspectives.

The main objective of the webinar will be to introduce the Towards IPOS initiative and the first draft V0 of the IPOS “Terms of Reference” (TORs – vision, mission, the possible services, etc.) to the WIO-ECSN community and exploring ways in which early-career scientists can contribute to the co-design and future activities of IPOS. By engaging with young professionals, the webinar aims to gather region-specific insights, foster collaboration, and ensure that the voices of the next generation of ocean experts from the WIO region are actively involved in shaping sustainable ocean governance.
