The WISTA Africa Conference is a regional event that brings together women from many African countries. It is marketed not only to established National WISTA Associations in Angola, Cameroon, Ghana, Morocco, and Nigeria – but also through other regional organizations such as Women in Maritime Africa (WIMAfrica) as well as Women in Maritime Eastern and Southern Africa (WOMESA) and the International Ports & Harbours Association (IAPHA). It is also marketed through the WISTA International network.

The WISTA Africa Conference is a regional event that brings together women from many African countries. The 2019 WISTA Africa Conference was hosted by WISTA Ghana and co-incided with a visit to that country by the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization. Delegates from countries including Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Tanzania, Angola, Nigeria, South Africa, Togo, and Gabon attended, amongst others. WISTA Ghana received significant funding from the Government as sponsorship for the event.
The WISTA Africa Conference traditionally welcomes approximately 150 local and international delegates representing maritime authorities, port authorities, shippers, agents, business owners, maritime lawyers, maritime media, government authorities and other leaders in the sector.
DAY ONE:
After registering delegates delegates will have an opportunity to visit The SA Agulhas II, a South African ice breaking and polar supply research vessel from 14h30 to 16h00. The evening function will provide an opportunity to network with leading professionals, academics and industry leaders from Africa.
DAY TWO:
The focus of day two is on women's development and values-based leadership. Structured panel discussions and group engagements will provide a platform for meaningful conversations and insights.
DAY THREE:
An optional excursion is planned for the third day allowing delegates the opportunity to explore the beautiful city of Cape Town. One of the highlights is a visit to the iconic Table Mountain, followed by a delicious lunch. Take this opportunity to relax, enjoy the breathtaking views, and connect with fellow attendees in a more casual setting. Pricing for optional excursion is R2 500.
