New Acting MD for Namcor

Recruitment of permanent MD continues

NAMIBIA: Victoria Sibeya has been named as the new Acting Managing Director of the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor) effective today as the year-long tenure of Ebson Uanguta comes to an end.

According to a statement issued by the national petroleum company, the recruitment for a “substantive managing director” will continue as Sibeya steps into the acting position.

Sibeya joined NAMCOR in 2006 and currently serves as Executive for Upstream Exploration. With nearly two decades of experience in the oil and gas sector, both locally and internationally, she brings deep industry knowledge, technical expertise, and a strong leadership track record to her new role.

“We welcome Mrs Sibeya to the helm of Namcor and look forward to her continued contributions as we advance the corporation’s strategic priorities,” said Florentia Amuenje, Board Chair.

“It is an absolute honour to be entrusted with this responsibility.  I look forward to leading Namcor during this pivotal period and, together with our dedicated team, navigating the challenges ahead. We remain committed to driving the company to even greater heights in service of our mandate and our nation,” said Sibeya on her appointment.

During her nearly two decades of experience in Namibia’s petroleum industry, she has served in various technical and leadership roles within the corporation since 2006. Before being appointed as the Executive for Upstream Exploration in 2019, she served as Acting Executive for Exploration and Production from April 2015 to March 2019 and as Asset Manager within the Exploration and Production Department in 2012.

Sibeya began her career at Namcor as a geoscientist and holds a solid academic foundation and has continuously advanced her professional qualifications.

Her educational background includes:

• Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Geology and Chemistry – University of Namibia, Namibia (2003)

• BSc (Honours) in Geology – Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, South Africa (2006)

• Master of Science (MSc) in Geology – University of Namibia, Namibia (2015)

• Executive Management Programme – University of Stellenbosch, South Africa (2016)

• Master of Business Administration (MBA), Global – University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom (2023)
