Navies prepare for maritime engagement
Kenya Navy fleet flagged off for duty
KENYA: The Commander Kenya Navy Fleet, Brigadier Mohamed Shemote, officially flagged off the Kenya Navy Special Boat Unit (SBU) operators for The Africa-India Key Maritime Engagement (AIKEYME) Exercise, yesterday in preparation for a multi-nation exercise due to be conducted in Tanzania in the next few weeks.
The exercise aims to enhance interoperability, foster cooperation, and strengthen maritime security. Part of the culmination phase of EX JITEGEMEE XXVI, the exercise specifically aims to contribute to maritime security within the Indian Ocean region by strengthening partnerships.
In his speech, Brigadier Shemote congratulated the participants on their selection for the exercise, acknowledging the honour and responsibility that comes with such an opportunity.

In his remarks, Commanding Officer Special Operations Squadron (SOS), Lieutenant Colonel Kipkorir Keter, expressed strong confidence in the training and preparedness of the participants.
“The team has been selected, trained and equipped to participate in the forthcoming EX-AIKEYME and we are confident in their abilities to meet the expectations of the exercise. As an elite force, I take this opportunity to remind you to uphold the highest level of professionalism, discipline, teamwork, and initiative. I have no doubt you will exemplify the SBU ethos.”
