Public comment invited on Upstream Petroleum Act

SOUTH AFRICA: The public has until the middle of May to comment on the Draft Regulations of the Upstream Petroleum Resources Development Act, 2024 which was published in the Government Gazette yesterday.
The Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, Gwede Mantashe, is calling on interested parties to submit comments by 14 May.
The proposed new regulations focus on:
❐ licence and permit-related application processes and procedures
❐ associated rights-related obligations
❐ health and safety matters, and
❐ appeals.
