Funded by TETA, the Future Maritime Careers and Industry Trends Conference, brings together industry leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss rapidly unfolding trends and drivers affecting a future South Africa maritime industry.

Championing opportunities in the maritime sector 

Participants from a cross-section of the maritime sector are invited to attend and discuss the future of maritime employment opportunities for South Africa. Input from industry, government and academia will provide delegates with an overview of opportunities within the boat building, engineering, oil and gas, tourism, shipping sectors and more. 

In addition, the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment will provide an update and review of the Ocean Economy Master Plan process that was initiated in 2019 and is expected to be completed in the coming months and presented to parliament.

◉  Career Development-Future Skills for Maritime Professionals: Mr Nceba Mfini (HR Executive at AMSOL)

◉ Linking BBBEE initiatives to Skills Development for Future Readiness: Ms M Matiwane (PetroSA)

In addition, a panel discussion will unpack career paths in the maritime sector by profiling opportunities and challenges. Chaired by Vanessa Davidson of Blue Cape, the panellists include Adrian Strydom (SAOGA), Dr Conrad Sparks (CPUT), Malcolm Alexander (TETA) and Captain Vernon Keller (SAMSA).
