The SOMISANA team is looking forward to your feedback during the webinar: Giles Fearon, Nkululeko Memela, Philile Mvula, Dylan Pivo, Gustav Rautenbach, Jennifer Veitch
The vision of SAEONs SOMISANA initiative (https://somisana.ac.za/ ) is for a sustained and transformed critical mass of internationally recognized South African numerical ocean modelling experts who provide accurate information about the changing state of the ocean for enhanced impact. Aside from ongoing capacity development activities, the team forms part of the National Oceans and Coastal Information Management System (OCIMS) consortium, led by the Department of Forestry Fisheries and Environment (DFFE).
In this role, they develop high resolution, regionally optimized models and value added products that feed into various OCIMS decision support tools. All model ouputs, value added products, processing tools, including operational workflows, are freely available and provided with FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) data principles and can be accessed through the SOMISANA catalogue (https://catalog.somisana.ac.za/catalog/ ) and fully documented git repositories: https://github.com/SAEON/somisana-croco https://github.com/SAEON/somisana-opendrift
