This webinar is presented by the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology, the National Research Fund and the South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement. 

Spearker: Mark Dixon

Mark, a qualified marine biologist, has worked in environmental positions globally as a CCAMLR Scientific Observer in the Ross Sea, Antarctica. He founded the Strandloper Project, a citizen science volunteer non-profit organisation which researches ghost fishing, ocean plastic waste and marine fauna in the Garden Route. Each year he leads a coastal research expedition, hiking along the shoreline to document ocean plastic pollution, washed out fishing debris and marine wildlife.
