National Science Month, an expansion of National Science Week, gives individuals and institutions a focused opportunity to interest South Africans in science, technology and innovation and show how they affect our lives.

He founded the Strandloper Project, a citizen science volunteer non-profit organisation which researches ghost fishing, ocean plastic waste and marine fauna in the Garden Route. Each year he leads a coastal research expedition, hiking along the shoreline to document ocean plastic pollution, washed out fishing debris and marine wildlife.
