16th AQUACULTURE ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHERN AFRICA'S CONFERENCE

Conference and Exhibition

The Aquaculture Association of Southern Africa (AASA) invites researchers, students, industry stakeholders, government partners and all interested parties to its upcoming biennial conference, themed “Resilience through Collaboration,”

DATE: 4 - 6 August 2026
VENUE:  Mpekweni Beach Resort in the Eastern Cape, South Africa
FORMAT: Confernce & Exhibition
COST: TBC

Against the backdrop of mounting challenges facing key South African aquaculture sectors—most notably abalone and tilapia—the conference will provide a vital platform to explore how cross-sectoral and cross-border collaboration can strengthen industry resilience. Particular emphasis will be placed on partnerships within the wider African aquaculture community, including engagement with government departments, development agencies, and international aid organisations.

The programme will feature both oral and poster presentations (with the call for abstracts opening soon), alongside one-day workshops on Aquatic Animal Health and Aquaponics. Delegates may also participate in dedicated aquaculture field trips, while exhibitor booths will showcase innovations across the value chain. Oneday passes will be available, and although the event will not be hybrid, the hotel is remote. Delegates are strongly advised to stay at Mpekweni Beach Resort as there is no nearby accommodation.
