Durban leases extended
TNPA calls for comments
SOUTH AFRICA: Port stakeholders have until Friday to comment on Transnet National Ports Authority’s intention to extend seven leases in the Port of Durban for periods from one to ten years.
The call comes amidst another spate of lease opportunities released in the Port of Richard’s Bay, the Port of East London and the Port of Port Elizabeth.
Four tenants stand to obtain a one year extension on properties that have been earmarked for Section 56 concessions. as part of port development framework under the Port of Durban Master Plan and to allow for the section 56 process to conclude, TNPA intends to ensure continued tenure by the following tenants, which are impacted by the Port Master Plan and the section 56 RFP process:
◼︎ Anchor Holdings (Pty) Ltd for warehousing at Maydon Wharf
◼︎ Bidfreight Port Operations (Pty) Ltd for warehousing at Maydon Wharf
◼︎ Profert Methven Road (Pty) Ltd for warehousing at Maydon Wharf
◼︎ Rianto Investments (Pty) Ltd for warehousing at Maydon Wharf
In addition to these Protank (Pty) Ltd has been awarded a three year lease for access to underground pipes from Protank to Berth 3. OSC Marine will enter into a new ten-year lease for 1,755m2 lay down area at Maydon Wharf, while Grindrod Holdings has been granted a ten-year lease for warehousing in Maydon Wharf.
Interested and affected parties are invited to submit comments and/or objections, by no later than 15h00 on 27 March 2026, for consideration by Transnet National Ports Authority.
