PORT TARIFF CONSULTATIONS

Ports Regulator Roadshow

The 11th Annual Port Performance Roadshow for the South African Port system is scheduled for May to provide port users with the opportunity to engage on issues impacting the country’s eight commercial ports falling under the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA). Registration for the workshops is mandatory at the link below.

Discussing port tariff application 

On 01 August 2025, the National Ports Authority Regulator of South Africa (“the Regulator”) received the Authority’s Tariff Application for the 2026/27 financial year and the indicative tariffs for the 2027/28 and 2028/29 tariff years respectively.

The 9.61% tariff increase request includes the following tariff differentiation in the application:

● 11.24%   increase on Marine charges (shipping lines).
● 8.61%   increase on Containers Imports & Exports.
● 9.61%   increase on Coastwise Containers & Transhipments, and Empties.
● 9.61%   increase on Break Bulk Imports & Exports.
● 9.61%  increase on Dry Bulk Imports & Exports.
● 9.84%   increase on Coal Exports.
● 9.84%   increase on Magnetite Exports.
● 8.61%   increase on Liquid Bulk Import & Export.
● 8.61%   increase on Automotive Imports & Exports; and
● 9.61%  increase on other cargo shipped.

❒  2 September 2025: Eastern London – Virtual (09:00 to 12:00)
❒  2 September 2025: Gauteng – Virtual (14:00 to 16:00)
❒  5 September 2025: KwaZulu Natal – Durban venue to be confirmed (09:00 to 13:00)
❒  8 September 2025: Ports of PE and Ngqura – Port Elizabeth venue to be confirmed (09:00 to 13:00)
